PTBA – Targets 41 mn coal production for 2023

25 October 2023

PTBA – Targets 41 mn coal production for 2023 Bukit Asam (PTBA), aims to increase coal production by 11% to 41 mn tons this year, with notable growth already seen in 1H23 where PTBA produced 18.8 mn tons of coal (+18% yoy). PTBA are achieving this through digital transformation, which increase operational efficiency and decision-making. The use of digital tools like CISEA and SCADA systems allows real-time monitoring and data analysis, while Automatic Train Loading Stations improve coal transport efficiency. Despite a 2.30% revenue increase to IDR18.85 tn, PTBA's net profit dropped to 2.77 tn (-54.8% yoy) in 1H23 due to challenges such as corrected coal prices and market fluctuations. For instance, the ICI-3 coal price, decreased by 48% in the past year. (Source : Kontan)
