EXCL - Eyes 450K additions for fixed broadband

Management of XL Axiata (EXCL) eyes to book 450,000 fixed broadband customers this year with 30% FMC penetration. The company strives to optimize fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) service to boost customer experience and ARPU. In order to spur FMC service, XL Axiata with Axiata Investment have previously acquired LinkNet (LINK) and is now focusing on homepass penetration that reached 1 mn. (Source : Investor Daily) Comment : Fixed broadband and development of FMC become a central theme for industry this year amid MNO’s desire to move into healthier competition and more sustained ARPU. For EXCL in particular, EXCL is planning to tap into family and SME segments for fixed broadband, while also adapting asset light approach through partnership and backbone sharing. Such strategy will enable it to limit leverage risk while supporting expansion.
