INCO – Partners with Huayou and Ford on Pomalaa HPAL project

Vale Indonesia (INCO), Ford Motor, and Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt are preparing IDR67.5 tn to work on the smelter project. The funds have been agreed to be used to build the High Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) Blok Pomalaa. The construction of this HPAL is in line with the vision of the company and the State which wants to build an EV ecosystem. The Pomalaa Block HPAL itself will function to process ore supplied by the Pomalaa mine which will then produce nickel in the form of mixed hydroxide precipitate (MHP). MHP is a low-cost nickel product that will be used in EV batteries. (Source : Kontan)
