Automotive - A number of new electric cars are ready to enliven GIIAS 2024 There is clearly still hope for a recovery in the national automotive market. One of the triggers is the presence of the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) exhibition in July which will be flooded with a number of new models, including in the electric car segment. Chairman III of the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) Rizwan Alamsjah said that his party ensures that it will maintain the national car sales target at the level of 1.1 mn units in 2024. Gaikindo believes that the trend of slowing car sales in the country will soon end. The GIIAS 2024 event will trigger an increase in car sales, considering that there are 55 motor vehicle brands participating in the annual automotive exhibition. On the event, 31 brands are passenger vehicles from various countries such as Japan, South Korea, China and Europe. In fact, there are several automotive brands that are newcomers and are taking part in the GIIAS exhibition for the first time. Furthermore, there will be 40 new vehicle models that will be introduced at GIIAS 2024, including electric cars whose popularity is increasing. "The contribution to sales of electric cars is only around 1%, but this product continues to grow in Indonesia," said Rizwan. (Source: Kontan)
