JPFA - Exploring export potential for hatching eggs

06 October 2023

JPFA - Exploring export potential for hatching eggs Japfa Comfeed Indonesia (JPFA) is strategically expanding its export footprint, marking its entry into the Brunei Darussalam market. In this venture, the poultry producer has successfully exported 45,000 hatching eggs (HE) from broiler breeder chickens to Brunei, with plans to exceed a total export volume of 130,000 eggs to the country. The export initiative is a strategic measure to balance the population of broiler chickens domestically. Looking ahead, JPFA is eyeing further expansion into export markets, with Malaysia as the next target. Further, Indonesia has witnessed a surge in broiler chicken production over the past two years due to increased demand for chicken meat. However, this growth has outpaced consumer demand, resulting in an annual surplus of broiler chickens. To address this, the government and industry stakeholders are implementing controls, regulating day-old chick final stock (DOC FS) through measures like cutting hatching eggs, early culling of parent stock (PS), and strategic hatching egg exports.
