TLKM - Set to launch HTS

TLKM - Set to launch HTS Telekomunikasi Indonesia (TLKM) through its subsidiary, Telkomsat is set to roll out its high throughput satellite, namely Merah Putih 2 on February 21 in Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA. With a lifespan of 15 years, the satellite is equipped with 32Gbps capacity. The company has involved Thales Alenia Space as the builder of the satellite. (Source : Kontan) Comment : While, scale of Indonesia's satellite remains small, we expect development of IT and data service will prop up demand of backhaul in the long run. Thanks to satellite's ability to cover rural areas, it is often becoming government's flagship program in economic development by making internet available in remote areas.
